By the end of June 6th, every person in the room will have built and deployed a real, working, paid app — just like this one. A note-taking app with user accounts, Stripe payments, and a live URL. Something you own. Something you can charge for. Something you can keep building.
Maybe you've watched AI tools explode over the past two years and wondered what people are actually doing with them. Maybe you've had an app idea sitting in your notes app for years, waiting for the right developer, the right budget, the right moment.
This workshop is for both of you.
Something quiet has shifted in how software gets made. You no longer need to learn to code. You need to learn to describe what you want — clearly, patiently, in plain English — to AI tools that will build it with you.
That's it. That's the skill. We'll teach it in a single Saturday.
Bring your laptop. Bring an idea — and build something just to prove to yourself that you can. End the day with a real, working app you made. Not a tutorial output. Not a sandbox demo. Your thing, running.
We'll set up your tools in the first hour. Claude Code, VS Code, the works. You'll be building before 10:30 AM.
The difference is in how you describe the problem. We'll teach the patterns — the ones that actually work, every time.
You can. The gap is smaller than you think. The same instinct that makes you good at prompting makes you good at building.
Neither are most of the people shipping the best AI products right now. That ship has sailed. Welcome to the new paradigm.
I've been a software engineer for 30 years. I've spent the last two of them building everything with AI — including the businesses I run now. I've spent weeks at a time vibe coding around the clock.
I'm not here to gatekeep what I know. I'm here to hand it to you.
I've been covered by national media and I believe — genuinely — that New Orleans, a city full of poets and creatives, is built for this moment. Culture is the original technology. Poets will be the best builders in the AI age.
This workshop is my way of proving it, one Saturday at a time.
This workshop is hosted by the Sugar Stack Ecosystem — a New Orleans community of AI builders, founders, and curious people learning together.
While this event is hosted at Loyola University on St. Charles Avenue, we meet regularly at The Nieux on St. Charles. You're welcome at any of it.
The connections made here don't end when the workshop does. You're joining a community of people building real things in New Orleans — the city that was always supposed to be the creative capital of the AI age.
This is the first run of this workshop in New Orleans. The 25 people in this room are the founding cohort — you'll shape what this becomes.
Future workshops will be larger, more structured, and priced higher. This one is intimate, experimental, and named for the people who showed up first.
The entire stack you'll build on June 6th costs $0 to start — outside of the Claude subscription. These are production-grade platforms, not toy tools. Real companies run on these.
Your AI co-builder. The one doing the heavy lifting. Describe what you want in plain English — it writes the code.
The editor where your code lives. Free, fast, and plays perfectly with Claude Code. You probably already have it.
Your database and auth layer. If your app needs to save data or log people in, Supabase handles it — no backend degree required.
Take payments on day one. Free to set up — only costs you when you make money. If your app charges for anything, Stripe is how.
Where your app lives on the internet. Global CDN, free SSL, instant deploys. This is how you go from code on your laptop to a real URL in under a minute.
AI image and media generation. If your app needs to create visuals, fal.ai gives you access to the best models with a simple API and free credits to start.
THE MATH: Your total startup cost for a real, deployed, payment-enabled AI app is $20/mo for Claude. Everything else is free until you're making money. That's the stack. That's the workshop.
We're inside Miller Hall on the Loyola University New Orleans campus — one of the most beautiful campuses in the South, right on St. Charles Avenue in Uptown New Orleans.
